Caesars Windsor: our review

Last updated · facts verified

Caesars Windsor is the giant of this guide: 758 rooms in two towers, most of them pointed at Detroit's skyline across the river. Add the Colosseum (5,000 seats, none over 225 ft from the stage), a floor of 2,000-plus slots and 80-plus tables, and a downtown address instead of a highway exit.

Ideal for: Big-name concerts plus a downtown riverside break, with a wide spread of room types.
Think twice if: Swimming with the kids is on the list — only adults get into the pool.

The pitch

Size, first of all. Caesars Windsor spreads 758 rooms across two towers: Augustus, pitched by the resort at families, and the older Forum. It sits on Riverside Drive in central Windsor, and what most guests are really paying for is outside the glass — the Detroit River, and the Detroit skyline straight across it.

Sleeping

The base Resort Room is around 402 sq ft: one king, a large desk, a tub plus a separate shower, a river outlook. All 758 rooms were part of a refurbishment announced in 2018, and the Forum Tower's were complete by September 2019 — 55-inch TVs, new bedding, new carpet. Suites step up from there: Resort Deluxe (whirlpool tub, wet bar), Junior (separate living room; whirlpool only on the Forum side) and Executive (five-piece marble ensuite, TV built into the mirror, separate butler entrance, a fireplace in some).

Rooms open at four and checkout is eleven. One thing the headline rate hides: the booking page we tried tacked on a $23.40 nightly resort fee, payable at checkout.

Playing

The property's fact sheet from August 2023 lists over 2,000 slots and over 80 table games — among them what it called Ontario's only live craps — plus a World Series of Poker room and a 1,700 sq ft Caesars Sportsbook lined with 22 large screens. Gaming and bars are 19-plus. Caesars Rewards members also get first crack at Colosseum presales.

The Colosseum

Plenty of guests come for one thing: a night at the 5,000-seat Colosseum, where Caesars says no seat sits beyond 225 ft from the stage. A resort announcement in July 2026 made it official that shows are all-ages unless an event says otherwise. On the calendar when we looked: Alice Cooper, Friday 6 November 2026.

Eating and drinking

For a dressed-up dinner there's Neros Steakhouse. Everything else is easy-going — Legends Sports Bar, Johnny Rockets, Spago Trattoria (Italian, family style), Café 377 for breakfast and lunch, and an always-open Tim Hortons on the Forum Tower's main level. Cosmos Lounge has local bands on Friday and Saturday nights; Vu Bar has the skyline. The ARIIUS nightclub left in January 2026 for a new address on Ouellette Avenue, which leaves the resort without a club.

Unwinding

Adults only at the indoor pool: big whirlpool, loungers, towels provided. Hotel guests also have a sauna and a fitness area. A spa wasn't among the amenities listed when we checked.

Getting there

A short taxi hop links downtown with Windsor's airport. The six-storey garage at 257 Glengarry Avenue was fully back in service on 8 July 2026, after repairs that took more than a year. From Detroit, the private Tunnel Bus lets passengers off at McDougall and University, close to the resort; it costs $15 and takes no cash.

Our take

A Colosseum show or a downtown two-nighter with lots of room choice — that's when Caesars Windsor shines, especially for couples. Families can use the Augustus Tower, but the pool is off-limits to children, so swimming has to happen somewhere else.
