Family-friendly casino hotels in Canada

Bringing the kids is less of a problem than you might think: age limits apply to gaming floors and certain bars, not to whole buildings. The real differences are how much there is for children to do and — in one case — whether they're allowed through the door. Our picks, best first.

  1. River Cree Resort & Casino8.0

    Enoch (Edmonton), Alberta

Our clear number one for kids. Public skating on twin NHL-size rinks, a Luxury Family Suite, the pool and whirlpool, and West Edmonton Mall five minutes off by free shuttle — and since 29 July 2024 minors may go anywhere outside the gaming areas as long as an adult is with them.

  2. Fallsview Casino Resort9.3

    Niagara Falls, Ontario

Only the casino is 19+; the rest of the resort welcomes children. Under-12s swim with a parent, Clifton Hill, Bird Kingdom and the Butterfly Conservatory are close by — and a room facing the falls tends to be the bit kids talk about afterwards.

  3. Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto8.7

    Toronto, Ontario

A guest aged 19+ books; the kids stay with them. Six fit in the 2-Bedroom Suite (fridge and microwave included), there's a pool with a hot tub, and most days you can watch the races at Woodbine next door for free.

  4. River Rock Casino Resort8.5

    Richmond, British Columbia

Water slide in the pool, several restaurants labelled all-ages, and the Canada Line for days out in Vancouver. The adult who checks in must be at least 19.

  5. Casino New Brunswick7.2

    Moncton, New Brunswick

Children can stay with an adult; under-12s need supervision at the pool. Between Magnetic Hill, its zoo and Hopewell Rocks, Moncton makes a great family road-trip stop.

  6. Grey Eagle Resort & Casino7.8

    Calgary (Tsuut'ina Nation), Alberta

The Standard Two Queen is the room the hotel steers families toward, the Event Centre has no age limit, and both the Calgary Zoo and Heritage Park are nearby. The hotel pool is closed for renovation, but guests receive free city-pool passes.

Leave the kids at home for these

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa admits nobody under 19 — anywhere, hotel and restaurants included. Caesars Windsor is a closer call: the pool is strictly for grown-ups, even though the resort markets its Augustus Tower to families and opens Colosseum shows to every age unless a show says otherwise.
