How we score casino hotels
Last updated · facts verified
Every hotel is marked 0–10 on six criteria, and the criteria are weighted before we add them up — one standout feature isn't enough to win.
| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| Rooms & views | 25% |
| Casino floor | 20% |
| Dining | 20% |
| Shows & events | 15% |
| Pool, spa & fitness | 10% |
| Getting there | 10% |
What each criterion covers
- Rooms & views: room and suite count, the range of types, sizes where published, what the windows face, and any recent refurbishment.
- Casino floor: square footage, slot and table numbers, hours, poker rooms and high-limit areas.
- Dining: how many places to eat, whether there's a signature room, late-night food, buffets, brunch.
- Shows & events: venue capacity, the line-up, and the age rules at the door.
- Pool, spa & fitness: what is open right now — closed facilities score as closed.
- Getting there: distance to the airport and the city centre, transit links, parking.
Sources, in order of trust
We start with the hotel's and casino operator's own websites, move on to provincial tourism boards and hotel-brand listings, and use news coverage and Wikipedia last — naming them whenever we do. If two sources disagree (Hilton Lac-Leamy's room count is the classic case), both numbers appear. If a fact isn't published anywhere, the page says that instead of guessing. Hotel facts in this edition were verified on 23 October 2026; the new-openings page on 28 October 2026.
One honest disclosure: we didn't stay at these hotels for this edition. These are desk reviews based on published information.
Money
Hotels pay us nothing, and links to them are ordinary links. Our two online casino pages may carry affiliate links to casino sites — sign up through one and we may be paid a commission, which costs you nothing extra. That never touches a hotel score, and hotel ranking positions are not for sale.
