Canada's casino hotels: straight-talking reviews and the 2026 top 10
Choosing where to spend a casino weekend in Canada? We size up each resort the way a trip actually unfolds — the room you'll sleep in, the floor you'll play on, where you'll eat, what's on stage, whether there's a pool or spa worth using, and how painful the drive or flight is. Figures come from the hotels themselves or from sources we name, and each review is stamped with the day we last checked it.
Newly opened
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa
Canada's first fully integrated Hard Rock resort, built for $350 million on the former Rideau Carleton site. Highlights: 1,500-plus slots in a casino that never closes, Hard Rock LIVE (2,200 capacity) and a Council Oak steakhouse. Strictly 19+ throughout.
Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto
Former Casino Woodbine, reborn beside the racetrack as a full resort — 5,000-capacity theatre, pool with sauna and steam room, free parking, free Pearson shuttle.
Pickering Casino Resort Hotel
East of Toronto, Great Canadian finished its $500 million Pickering resort with this hotel. Rooms range from 388 up to 775 square feet, and 22 are accessible. The casino launched with more than 90 live tables and 2,200 slot machines; the arena and theatre hold 2,500.
Great Blue Heron Casino & Hotel
On Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation land, the casino declared its hotel finished on 1 November 2021. How many rooms? Wikipedia says 100, travel listings 116, the operator doesn't say. The Nest, its event space, holds 800.

How our scores work
Six criteria, unequal weights. Rooms and views count for a quarter of the score; casino floor and dining a fifth each; shows, wellness and access share the rest. Every fact traces back to the hotel's website or to a source we cite by name. The full method is here.
Before you book: common questions
Which is Canada's top casino hotel?
Fallsview Casino Resort, Niagara Falls, on our scoring — 372 rooms built around the falls, 3,200-plus slots and 110 tables, a 5,000-seat stage (the OLG Stage) and more than 20 restaurants.
What's the newest casino hotel in the country?
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa: 150 rooms, open since 3 July 2025. Before that, the most recent arrival was the hotel at Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto (1 August 2023).
How old must you be to enter a Canadian casino?
18 in Québec, Manitoba and Alberta; 19 everywhere else we cover, New Brunswick, B.C. and Ontario included.
